This blog will no longer be updated and it will be closed to comments. But you can jump over to Green Love Designs. The content will be similar to the one in this blog. I'll still share all my crafts but I will also throw in some DIY's. I am also going to start an Etsy shop, so make sure you check it out! I'm eager to share this new path with you! I'll start putting more of my creations there soon and I'd love to hear your thoughts!

My sewing machine/ Mi máquina de coser

Hello all! How is the weather treating you? Here in Buenos Aires it is pouring rain! I really enjoyed my new blanket this weekend ;)

Today I am going to show you what I did with my sewing machine. As you may know if you read me last year, the machine belonged to my aunt E. It had a faux leather cover but her cats, Galux and Gris, scratched it all over and then it looked like this.

¡Hola a todos! ¿Cómo los trata el tiempo? ¡Acá en Buenos Aires está lloviendo a cántaros! Este fin de semana disfruté mucho de mi mantita ;)

Hoy les voy a mostrar lo que le hice a la máquina de coser. Como sabrán si me leían el año pasado, la máquina era de mi tía E. Tenía una cubierta de cuerina que los gatos, Galux y Gris, arañaron toda y quedó así.

Before/Antes

So I took the faux leather out and it looked likes this.

Entonces lo saqué la cuerina y quedó así.

And with a little paint it turned out like this.

Y con un poco de pintura quedó así.

I'm not a 100% happy with the result so I think I am going to repaint it but I still don't know what color to use. What do you think?

And if you noticed what is in the background in the last picture, that is my project for the next post.

Blankets/ Mantitas

Hi! The winter is coming so today I will show you some blankets I have and how I turned them into one so I can cuddle in the couch and watch movies until the spring comes ;)

¡Hola! Se acerca el invierno así que hoy les voy a mostrar unas mantitas que tenía y como las convertí en una para poder acurrucarme en el sillón a mirar películas hasta la primavera ;)

First I crochetes all the edges.

Primero le hice una vuelta de crochet a todos los bordes.

And the I crocheted them together.

Y luego las uní también usando crochet.

And that is the finished blanket and the couch ;) Enjoy your day. It'a a holiday in Argentina :)

Dress to infinity scarf/ De vestido a bufanda infinita

Hello all! Sorry it's been so long since I posted here, but I have been busy with some projects, blog and non blog. I am starting a microenterprise with a friend, I hope we are lucky! I'll tell you all about it when it's ready to show.

Now back to the recycling. I had this dress for a long time and I got tired of it because it wasn't flattering anymore.

¡Hola a todos! Disculpen que estuve mucho tiempo sin escribir, pero estuve ocupada con unos proyectos, del blog y otros que no son del blog. Estoy por empezar un microemprendimiento con una amiga, ¡espero que tengamos suerte! Cuando esté todo listo se los muestro.

Ahora volvamos al reciclado. Tenía este vestido hace bastante tiempo y me cansé de él porque ya no me favorecía.

I tried to take it in but it didn't work so I dedided to transform it into an infinity scarf!

Traté de achicarlo, pero no funcionó así que decidí transformarlo en una bufanda infinita.

I like to use it this way, but it is so versatile! I like it so much I am going to make another one but shorter this time, to see how it turns out. There are tons of tutorials on this kind of scarf. Here are some of them:

Beach tote bag/ Bolso playero

Hello! It's been a long time sice I posted something here. I've been pretty busy but I managed to create anyway :)
Today I am going to show you a tote bag that I made in January to use in our summer vacations in Monte Hermoso. I love it and I used it a lot.

¡Hola! Hace mucho tiempo que no publico nada acá. He estado bastante ocupada, pero igual se puede crear :)

Hoy les voy a mostrar un bolso playero que hice en enero para usar en las vacaciones de verano en Monte Hermoso. Me encanta y lo usé un montón.

My aunt S gave me the fabric I used to the outside and the for the lining I used a fabric that belonged to and old pillow my mother-in-law gave me. I love recycling!

Mi tía S me dio la tela que usé para la parte de afuera y para el forro usé una la tela que era de un almohadón viejo que me dio mi suegra. ¡Me encanta reciclar!

It is the first time that I sewed a bag by my own so I am completely aware that it has flaws, but all the same I'm happy with it and I'm sure the next one will be better.

Es la primera vez que coso un bolso solita así que soy consciente de que tiene defectos, pero igual estoy contenta con él y estoy segura que el próximo va a ser mejor.

As you can tell from the title of this post, my current hobby is painting.
I've had this tray for a few months, and always had the idea of painting it. And this is how it turned out:

Christmas decoration/ Decoración Navideña

Here is the Christmas decoration! Sorry I posted so late, but I finished them yesterday and it was too late to take pictures. I made the wreaths and the flowers, but they didn't turn as I expected. Anyway, I am going to leave them at least until the 25th.

Embellished cardigan/ Cardigan adornado

I just finished sewing the buttons of this renewed cardigan. I was inspired by this Anthropologie cardi I saw a while ago (no longer available).

Recién terminé de coserle los botones a este cardigan renovado. Me inspiré en este cardigan de Anthropologie que vi hace un tiempo (ya no está en venta).

So I grabbed a crochet needle and starting working.

Así que agarré una aguja de crochet y empecé a trabajar.

I made flowers, hearts, butterflies and leaves. I found most of the patterns online. Here they are:

Finally, the pillows!/ ¡Finalmente, los almohadones!

I finally made the pillows that I wrote about (two months ago!). I put them on our bed.

Finalemtne hice los almohadones sobre los que escribí (¡hace dos meses!). Los puse sobre la cama.

They turned out a little small because I made them with some fabric my and aunt S gave me. I got the stuffing form some old pillows that my boyfriend's mom gave me. I am all about recycling! (and not spending money, hehe!). Anyway, I am going to make some bigger ones because I love pillows. ♥

Salieron un poco chicos porque los hice con unas telas que me dieron mi mamá y mi tía S. El relleno lo saqué de unos almohadones viejos que me dio la mamá de mi novio. ¡Todo sea por reciclar! (y no gastar plata, ¡jeje!). Igual voy a hacer otros más grandes porque me encantan los almohadones. ♥

Nightgown to tunic/ De camisón a túnica

I found this nightgown at my mom's house. It belonged to one of her aunts and she kept it because she like the lace. But for me it more than just a pretty lace.

Encontré este camisón en la casa de mi mamá. Era de una de sus tías y lo guardó porque le gustaba la puntilla. Pero para mí era más que una linda puntilla.

So I grabbed a pair of scissors and after cutting and working on the sewing machine, this is the result.

Entonces agarré la tijera y después de cortar un poco y de trabajar con la máquina de coser, este es el resultado.

I hate modeling, but that way you can see it better, haha!.

I wore this tank top for the second time to go to the hairdresser's. Bad idea!!! It got a terrible stain at the back of the collar. I had to do something, the tank top was new! But what?

Usé esta musculosa por segunda vez para ir a la peluquería. ¡Mala idea! Se manchó terriblemente en la espalda en la parte del cuello. ¡Tenía que hacer algo porque la musculosa era nueva! ¿Pero qué?

Then it hit me: a crocheted flower, and I starting trying until I came up with this:

As you may have already noticed, since I got the sewing machine, my current hobby is sewing. But I want to do so many things, that all my projects are all unfinished (except the ones I already posted). So I decided to show you a sweater I knitted a few years ago.

Future flowers/ Futuras flores

Here is a sneek peek of some of the fabric scraps I manage to get during my vacations. My mom gave me some, my aunt Su gave me some more, and I gathered some myself, too.

Acá tienen un adelanto de algunos de los retazos que pude conseguir durante mis vacaciones. Mi mamá me dio algunos, otros mi tía Su y yo junté otros pocos. Todos, o casi todos, los retazos son para hacer flores.

Thanks mom and aunt Su! All of them, or most, are destined to make flowers. What am I gonna do with ALL those flowers, you might ask (my boyfriend asked me the same question), and I might answer I am definitelly going to keep a lot of them, but I might gave some to my sister and some of my cousins and maybe sell some of them if they are cute enough. We'll see.

¡Gracias mamá y Tía Su! Tal vez se pregunten que voy a hacer con TANTAS flores (mi novio me hizo ls misma pregunta), y yo les contesto que voy a quedarme con algunas, otras le regalaré a mi hermana y tal vez mi prima y, si son lo suficientemente lindas, venderé algunas. Ya veremos.

A little more sewing/ Un poco más de costura

Thank God It's Friday!!!

I am so excited with the sewing machine! Yesterday, intead of trying to make pillows, I made this grocery bag dispenser. I found the tutorial here.
It is very simple to make and it is great to keep your kitchen organized. I made it out of some scraps I had decided to use white and yellow so it matches the rest of the kitchen.

¡Estoy super contenta con la máquina de coser! Ayer, en lugar de tratar de hacer almohadones, hice un dispensador de bolsas plásticas. Encontré el tutorial acá.
Es muy fácil de hacer y es genial para mantener la cocina ordenada. Lo hice con retazos de tela que tenía y elegí los colores blanco y amarillo para que combinen con el resto de la cocina.

Tomato pincushion/ Tomate alfiletero

I love my sewing machine! It is great. I haven't done much yet because I have so many things in mind that I don't know where to start! I am going to show you what I did, as the title says, a tomato pincushion. It is very simple and it actually required more hand sewing than machine sewing, but hey! it is a start. I found the tutorial here but I changed it a little bit.

Me encanta la máquina de coser! Es genial. No he hecho mucho todavía porque tengo tantos proyectos en mente que no sé por donde empezar. Hoy les voy a mostrar lo que hice, que, como dice el título, es un tomate alfiletero. Es muy fácil de hacer y requirió más costura a mano que a máquina, pero bueno, es un comienzo. Encontré el tutorial acá pero lo cambié un poco.

I am thinking about making some pillows for the bed, so if I get to that I'll show them in my next post.

Vacation is over/ Se terminaron las vacaciones

I am back in the blog world! I am done with finals and I finally have the sewing machine!!! I just got it yesterday, that is why I haven't been posting for a while. But that doesn't mean I have done nothing! I've been knitting, crocheting, crafting, painting, cleaning, shopping, organizing, reading. To sum up, a bit of everything. And now that I have a sewing machine, I'll start sewing, which was I was suppose to according to the poll (sorry everybody that voted on it!). So I am going to post some of the other stuff I have done, so as not to have a ghost blog.

Here is one of the things I have done. I have two cans that I use to keep my head accessories organised. They were not nice and did not match so I painted them white and then I used a decoupage technique to make them nice.

¡¡Volví a la blogosfera!! Terminé con los finales, y ¡¡¡ya tengo máquina de coser!!! La recibí ayer, por eso no he escrito nada en un tiempo. ¡Pero eso no significa que no he hecho nada! estuve tejiendo en dos agujas y al crochet, haciendo artesanías, pintando, limpiando, comprando, organizando, leyendo. En resumen, un poco de todo. Y ahora que tengo la máquina de coser, voy a intentar coser algo, que es lo próximo que tenía que hacer de acuerdo con la encuesta (disculpen todos los que votaron). Así que voy a publicar las otras cosas que hice para no tener un blog fantasma.

Acá tiene una de las cosas que hice. Tenía dos latas que usaba para guardar mis accesorios para el cabello. No eran lindas y eran las dos distintas así que las pinté de color blanco y usé una técnica de decoupage para que quedaran lindas.

I loooove green, so my bedroom is decorated in different shades of green and white. I wish I had a dressing room :( but for now, I am happy with our little apartment.

Sorry I haven't posted for a while, but I am really busy with finals. So I don't have much time left to create. But I am really happy because my aunt gave me her old sewing machine and I'll be able to sew something, which according to the poll, is the next thing I will have to do and it was what I wanted to do too, so thanks for participating! :)

I am still not sure what to sew. I have some fabric scraps so I can make flowers, but I want to do something a little more advance. I have been looking for simple patterns in the web but I still haven't made up my mind on what to do first. I don't have the sewing machine at home yet, which is kind of ok by me, cause if I had it, I wouldn't be able to concentrate on studying :S.

Discúlpenme por no haber escrito en un tiempo, pero estoy bastante ocupada estudiando para los exámenes finales y no me queda mucho tiempo libre para crear. Pero estoy contenta porque mi tía me regaló su maquina de coser y voy a poder coser, que según la encuesta es lo próximo que tengo que hacer y es en realidad lo yo quería hacer, así que gracias por participar! :)

No estoy segura de que es lo que voy a coser. Tengo retazos de tela para hacer flores, pero quiero hacer algo un poco más avanzado. He estado buscando patrones simples en la web, pero todavía no decidí que hacer primero. Todavía no tengo la máquina de coser en casa, lo que es bastante bueno para mí porque si no, no podría concentrarme y estudiar :S

Los veo cuando terminen de los finales :)

Bolero top with ruffles/ Bolero con voladitos

I made this bolero top five summers ago. It is very simple, the only details are the ruffles and the thin ribbon in the same color. The most difficult thin to achieve was the ruffles that are knitted as a lace. Hope the detail can be appreciated en the picture. The color and the lace make it very romantic.

On a different note, Argentina is in quarter finals!!! We are all so excited, specially my boyfriend who thinks this is our year and we will be champions. Hope he is right, but I prefer to me patient and wait to see how things turn out. Meanwhile... GO ARGENTINA!!!

Hice este bolero hace cinco veranos. Es muy simple con los detalles de los volados y la cinta bebé del mismo color. lo más difícil de hacer fueron los volados que están tejidos como una puntilla. Espero que se pueda ver el detalle en la foto. El color y la puntilla lo hacen muy romántico.

Cambiando de tema, Argentina está en cuartos de final!!! Estamos todos muy contentos, mi novio en especial que cree que este es nuestro año y que vamos a ser campeones. Espero que tenga razón, pero yo prefiero ser paciente y ver como resultan las cosas. Mientras tanto... ¡¡¡VAMOS ARGENTINA!!!

Long vest with hood/ Chaleco largo con capucha

I knitted this vest last year. I copied a model from a magazine, only I changed it a little bit. The original one was longer and had a little sash around the waist, that I put round the neck but I can change it any time I want. I turned out pretty good and I wore it right away.

A este chaleco lo tejí el año pasado. Copié el modelo de una revista y lo cambié un poco porque el original era muy largo y tenía un lazo en la cintua, que yo puse alrededor del cuello, pero que se puede cambiar de lugar. Salió bastante bien y lo usé enseguida.

Hi! Today I'm gonna show you some of jewelry I made some years ago. These were for my sister. I made her this set of necklace, ring and bracelet for a party. She was wearing all black clothes, so she wanted her jewelry green to add a touch of color. I don't have a picture of her at the party right here, but she looked very pretty. As usual :)

Knitted capelet/ Capita tejida

This is my very first crocheted garment. Of course is not the very first time I crocheted. I have practiced before and I added a small crocheted detail to some of my knitted pieces (I will post about them soon). So here it is. This is a very simple scarf with some nice details. It has four different yarns that turn out as stripes and the "flowers" in the end are a nice finishing touch. Sorry it is a little old, but what can I say, it's one of my fave scarfs...

That is all for today, I'll go back to study, final exams are near :S

PS: One of my aunts taught my how to crochet (I have a lot of aunts ;))

Esta es mi primer prenda tejida al crochet. Obviamente no es la primera vez que tejo al crochet, ya había practicado antes agregando detalles a algunas de mis prendas tejidas a mano (algunas de las cuales publicaré en breve). Así que este es el resultado: una bufanda simple con detalles agradables. Está tejida con cuatro lanas diferentes que logran el efecto rayado y las "flores" al final añaden un toque agradable. Disculpen que está un poco vieja, pero bueno, es una de mis bufandas preferidas...

Esto es todo por hoy. Ahora voy a seguir estudiando (se acercan los exámenes finales :S)

How I started knitting / Cómo empecé a tejer

I started knitting when I was a little girl. My mom taught me and my sister and we really liked it. We would go with our knitting bags to my grandma's place and saw her knitting a sweater or a vest. But what always happened to us was that we got bored and we never finished any big project. I think all we ever finished was maybe a scarf for a doll and a cover for a water bottle. So we gave it uo all together when we realized we would never knit as fast as grandma.

It wasn't until I went to college that I wanted to start knitting again. This time with a project in mind. I wanted to knit me a blue turtle neck sweater! My mom thought I would never finish it since I it was time-consuming and difficult for a first project. But this time I was determined to do it and use it. So I ask one of my aunts for help. We went to the yarn shop, picked up a simple blue yarn and returned home to start knitting right away. My aunt helped me a lot, really. Of course my mom and grandma also helped.

I started knitting the sweater in May and it was finished by...OCTOBER!!! Of course it was my very first knitted garment and it was my second year in college and I was super busy. But I finished it and it turned out pretty good. I get to used it a few days after I finished it and all. I felt ashamed the first time I used it. I thought people were gonna noticed that it was knitted by me. But nobody did. I fact when I told some friends that I had made it, they couldn't believe it!

During the sweater making process my aunt bought some knitting magazines. It had some many nice garments that I decided to give one a try. My grandma had given me some yarn she had, but it was not enough to knit the vest a wanted, so I went to the yarn shop with my mom. We took the yarn my grandma had given me and asked one of the assistant sellers at the shop if there was something that would go with it. It turned out great. I really improved my knitting. I still have the vest and every time I put it on someone compliment me on it.

I could not take pictures of the sweater I have this obsession for dismantling my old sweaters and knitting them again. So I did that like three times with my first sweater. But I did take pictures of my second garment. And here they are.

Empecé a tejer cuando era chica, mi mamá nos enseñó a mi y a mi hermana y nos gustó mucho. Cuando íbamos a la casa de mi abuela llevábamos las bolsas de tejido y veíamos como ella hacía un pulóver o un chaleco. Pero mi hermana y a mí nos aburríamos y nunca terminábamos de tejer nada. Creo que lo único que terminamos fue una bufanda para una muñeca y una funda para una bolsa de agua caliente. Por eso, cuando nos dimos cuenta de que nunca íbamos a tejer tan rápido como mi abuela, nos dimos por vencidas y dejamos de tejer.

Recién cuando empecé la universidad me dieron ganas de tejer otra vez. Pero esta vez tenía un proyecto en mente: una polera celeste para mí. Mi mamá pensaba que nunca la iba a terminar porque me iba a llevar mucho tiempo hacerla y era mi difícil para un primer proyecto. Pero yo estaba decidida a hacerla y a usara, así que con la ayuda de una de mis tías puse en marcha el proyecto. Fuimos a la casa de hilados y elegí una lana celeste bien simple y volvimos a casa para empezar a tejer inmediatamente. Mi tía me ayudó un montón, y también lo hicieron mi mamá y mi abuela, por supuesto.

Empecé a hacer la polera en mayo y la terminé en... ¡OCTUBRE! Era mi primer prenda tejida y estaba en segundo año de la universidad y tenía mucho que estudiar. Pero la terminé y quedó bastante bien, hasta pude usarla ese mismo año. Primero me daba un poco de vergüenza ponérmela porque creía que que la gente se iba a dar cuenta que la había tejido yo, pero no pasó eso. Es más, cuando le decía a mis amigas que la había hecho yo, ¡no lo podían creer!

Mientras tejía la polera, mi tía compró algunas revistas de tejido y tenían unas prendas tan lindas que me dieron ganas de intentar hacer un chaleco. Mi abuela me había dado una poco de lana que ella tenía, pero no alcanzaba para hacerlo. Así que mi mamá me acompañó a la casa de hilados y con la lana de mi abuela en mano, le preguntamos a una de las vendedoras si tenía algo con que combinarla. ¡Salió genial! Se notaba que estaba mejorando. Todavía tengo el chaleco y cada vez que me lo pongo alguien lo halaga. No tengo fotos de la primer polera porque tengo la manía de desarmar mis tejidos y hacerlos de nuevo. A la primer prenda la destejí tres veces. Pero tengo fotos del chaleco. Acá están.

* It is a traditional recipe in Argentina usually made for birthdays (or at least that happens in my family) I consists of two circular cookie pieces sandwiched by dulce de leche (which is similar to caramel) with some grated coconut. They are delicious!

* These are made out if oatmeal, butter, cocoa, dulce de leche, vanilla essence and port (similar to truflles). Yum!

Flowers / Flores

So I made some flowers. I am kinda proud of them, they turned out pretty good. I showed them to one of my aunts, who is a tailor and she like them so much that she gave me pieces of fabric and scissors so I could make some more. I am so happy :) I am gonna do some more and publish them in a couple of weeks. I made the black ones with fabric and the burgundy is crocheted. I hope you like them.

Bueno, hice algunas flores. Estoy algo orgullosa, me salieron bastante bien. Se las mostré a una de mis tías, que es modista y le gustaron tanto que me regaló un montón de recortes de tela y una tijera para que haga más. Estoy re contenta :) Voy a hacer más y publicarlas en unas semanas.

Las flores negras están hechas con tela y la bordó está tejida al crochet. Espero que les gusten.

Creamy vest with fringes / Chaleco color crema con flecos

I made this vest 4 years ago aprox. I used and old vest that was too short and too wide. It had some holes that were sewed back together and part of the wool was burned. My mom rescued it for me. She thought I would do something with it and she was right! I ripped it and started looking for a design in knitting magazines right away. I found this gorgeous ocher-colored vest with fringes on the sides and I copied it.

This is the result. Too bad I didn't take pictures of the old vest :(

Hice este chaleco hace unos cuatro años. Usé un chaleco viejo que era muy corto y muy ancho que tenía agujeros cosidos y parte de la lana estaba quemada. Mi mamá lo rescató porque pensó que yo podía hacer algo ¡y tenía razón! Lo desarmé y enseguida empecé a buscar un modelo en revistas de tejido. Encontré un chaleco hermoso color ocre con flecos a los costados y lo copié.

Este es el resultado. Lástima que no le saqué fotos al chaleco original :(
